i knew a man, that once promised to change the face of this vicinity... when he..., i knew him

I knew a man

Born a messiah to his people

He had a dream

A dream of greatness

A dream to usher in bright light of hope

Into dark night of stagnation n poverty

He had a dream

A dream that could transform their cosmic elegy

into glorious psalm of brotherhood.

I knew a man

Who destiny had favored to

accomplish his dream

He was determined to execute his plans to the end

But he was alone in his thought.

His decision was contrary to their opinion

So they gave him pepper when he needed salt

When he ask for reason,

they gave him sword to put on his people neck.

He invoked a transforming agenda

They converted it to a comic show.

I knew a man

Whose friends, brought his dream to ruin

A man whom situation threatens his dream

And today only slight different exist

between him n his fellows

They now wine and dine with corruption.

Leaving the people he was meant to deliver

On filthy rag of poverty.

I knew a man

Who God will judge one day

A man whose instructors n mentors

Shall face justice someday

And the people shall trample upon them

and their works that day.
